Figure 9-15 (a) Refraction of light, showing the angle of incidence (qi) and angle of refraction (qr), both measured from a common normal N. The transmission of light through a transparent medium of thickness d is shown, Io is the incident light, IR is the reflected light, and IT represents the transmitted light leaveing the material. The absorbed light in medium #2 is shown by a wiggly arrow labeled A. Both versions of medium #1 are the same material.
