The 20th Annual National
Educators' Workshop will be held on October 16 - 19, 2005, in
Gaithersburg, Maryland. N.E.W. Update 2005 will be hosted by NIST, University
of Maryland, and Norfolk State
University.
Workshops will be
sponsored by the University of Maryland, NIST, Norfolk State
University,
National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Langley Research Center,
Materials Science and Engineering Laboratories at National Institute of
Standards and Technology, ASM International Foundation, National
Institue of Aerospace, BIMat, U. S. Air Force Research Laboratory, and
Boeing Commercial Airplane Company.
Faculty will present
experiments, demonstrations, and technical papers. Leaders in the
fields of aviation, materials, and laser research will provide
technical updates.

TOUR
Arrangements
have been made for a tour of the Smithsonian for Materials Research and
Education in on Wednesday afternoon after the workshop concludes. This
world-class laboratory
is part of the Smithsonian’s Center and is heavily involved in
conservation research, conservation treatment development,
archaeological conservation, historic materials research and
characterization, international preservation

be on a first come basis and limited to 25. Please indicate on page 9
